Becker poked his head out from behind the bar to take aim, but his antagonists were fleeing. A heavy handed assault seemed to have been effective, and reduced casualties... on his side. Mike stepped out and surveyed the main room, which was emptying. He found himself looking down upon the bodies he had ripped to shreds. It provoked a few thoughts. Some uncomfortable. Most kept at bay. He shook his head, blew out air and stepped over his handiwork to meet Dugan.

Seemed things were resolved."Short work. No complications." Then the police arrived. "Then again..." It was less problematic than he had assumed however. At least it appeared that way. There was perhaps an opportunity.

He wanted to poke the story with a stick. "What kind of trouble we talking about?"

"Thank you," Beth said and got up from her seat. She crossed over to Sylandra and stole a kiss. She wanted to ask, "Do you get used to that?" as she laid a trembling hand on Sylandra's shoulder but decided that it was a discussion to be had at a later time when they had the time and space to do it justice.

She activated her comm and spoke into it, "Captain, is there anyone requiring medical assistance?" she asked but she didn't wait for an answer, picking up her bag and heading for the shuttle's hatch. While she waited both for Ian's response and for the hatch to open, she couldn't resist looking back at Sylandra and blowing a kiss, feeling a strong feeling welling up in her and she smiled, the frown lines clearing away completely, her inner beauty revealing itself as a consequence. Beth really was attractive when she smiled.

Ian looked aver at Abe as she inched her way in.

We're all fine, Abe. Jasper's gone ta the hospital, his friend was in a bad way."

He listened as the police came in and answered Beth first as Mike took care of finding out what kind of trouble the police were having. It was good to have Mike involved in things crew related.

We're good, Beth. No one here needs your help. Those who did, no longer do."

His voice carried a tone of sadness to it. He meant what he said.

Now, he turned his attention to what the policeman had to say.

Ian said: "We're good, Beth. No one here needs your help. Those who did, no longer do."

"Acknowledged, Captain," Beth responded, putting the second part of his statement into her subconscious along with the sight of the man disintegrating in the hail of ordinance from the shuttle's forward light armament and the fact that the same woman from whom she would be seeking comfort from later was the person who had fired them.

She made her way back to the shuttle, stowing the bag and making as if to go forward and then stopped.

"What have you got yourself into, Bethany?" she asked herself and then laughed softly. "You know. You saw what happened at the Alliance Research Centre."

Beth shook her head and resumed her short journey to the front of the shuttle. She came up behind Sylandra, taking care to ensure that Sylandra wasn't surprised and slipped her arms around her, kissing Sylandra on the head and then leaning her own head against Sylandra's.

"No work for me. Jasper's safe and okay and on his way to the hospital with his friend who needs attention," she said. Sylandra felt warm and Beth felt her desire rekindling.

Sylandra sat at the pilots yoke, her hands resting gently on the handles. She was barely conscious of Beth's return to the bridge; her attention was on the activity at the front of the bar. The lawmen coming and going, the ambulance, the odd lookie-loo inspecting the goings on. When Beth came up behind her and she felt the woman's arms enfold her and the tentative kiss...

With a sigh, Syl relaxed back into the seat. She could feel the stress drain from her back, the constant knot in her abdomen unwind. Her hands started to shake and she bit her lip, tried to breath through it.

"Beth. Good t' see you back. Can't.... Wait. Just let me get my face back on. Please. The others, though, they good?"

"All safe," Beth reassured. "Just mopping up the paper work," she added, referring to the police presence.

She could feel Sylandra's hands shaking; it was slight, the merest hint of a vibration in Sylandra's torso. It pained her that Sylandra should suffer in any way and she felt a brief flash of anger toward the person who had started this whole mess and a longer lasting sense of frustration at the pilot chair that was preventing her from holding Sylandra properly.

Beth moved around so that she was facing Sylandra though she was somewhat constrained by the console. Reaching down she took Sylandra's hands in her own and held them firmly before raising them to her lips and kissing them, assuming Sylandra let her; she lacked Sylandra's strength; in her own mind she lagged behind Sylandra in so many ways.

Ian watched the Fed's as they putted around the bar, taking stock and asking questions. He knew that there was a clock ticking somewhere. There always was with him and his.

He listened to the officer as he tried to get his bearings and take control for the area and the situation and him and his.

That last part was not going to work.

He gave Mike a look that said Thanks and knew the man would understand it. Mike had been with him the longest. And Ian knew that if something were to happen to him, Mike would take care of the Glory. Just as Corso had done with him, Ian felt that Mike could take that place as well.

Not now.

Heaven's no. Not for a long while.

Death wasn't ready for him yet. She liked to tease, sure, but go all the way ... not in this Lifetime ......

He smiled at that.

He leaned it Abe when she came to stand by him. Just a touch for strength and love and compassion and everything he thought he had to give up until she came back into his life.

"We'll help out where we can, but like my XO said, anything about the trouble you can tell us would be greatfull as we head over to the Sheriff."

This was an uncomfortable place to be. They were wanted folks and here they were standing in a veritable sea of bodies, part of their town damaged from the weapons on Blaze and all manner of feds inspecting them and the scene around them.

All it would take would be a look into the Cortex. A simple facial recognition scan. Their goose would be cooked.

And yet they asked them for help?

Sight unseen?

Something was not right. These people were either desperate or this was a trap.

Ian leaned against her as she stood near him and gave her that smile. She couldn't help but smile back.

"We'll help out where we can, but like my XO said, anything about the trouble you can tell us would be greatfull as we head over to the Sheriff."

Abe used every ounce of control not to gape at him. They were going to stay and help out? Going to the sheriff's office was akin to walking into the lion's den.

Or maybe he was fishing to find out what the real situation was. She couldn't help but to reach towards him and laced her fingers through his.

"I love you, Ian," she said softly as she leaned closer. "I'd like to head to the ship. Back home. We could clean up and wait for them to gather their information that they want us to do."

Or have the option to run for their lives before they got snatched by the feds.

Ian stood by the woman he loved and nodded at the logic of what she said. He looked at the Officer.

"Sir, we have some that are hurt. In order for us to be of any use to your Sheriff we need to be at our best. We'll do as my Sercrity Chief says and head back to the ship, first and we'll rendesvous at your office in two hours time."

He that he turned to his crew, those that were left. He spun his fingerin the air.

"We're movin out."

He did not wait for the Officer to reply but started moving in that direction. Toward the door, toward Glory, toward Home.

Mike had found his gaze lingering on the corpses that made up his handiwork. There was some want to question the morality of it, but he didn't know where to start.

"Right." Agreement met the change of subject. "We should secure our own crew first."

"Like Jasper, before he gets led astray again. We're best together on the ship." That sentence caused Mike to pause. In another context, it meant a lot. He wasn't sure he had the sentiment behind it yet, nor was he opposed to embracing that feeling though. He half-smiled at the idea, then followed Dugan out.
